Smokey Hummus Recipe

This smokey hummus recipe is packed full of protein, fibre, iron, vitamin c, zinc and flavour. It is vegetarian, vegan, gluten free and dairy free. This smokey hummus will a favourite amongst the whole family, or the perfect "bring a plate" option.

Smokey Hummus


1 x can of chickpeas

Juice of 1 medium lemon

3 tablespoons of olive oil

1 tablespoon of tahini

2 cloves of garlic

1 teaspoon of savoury yeast

5 drops of liquid smoke

Salt and pepper to taste.


Drain the liquid from the can of chickpeas. Add the chickpeas and all ingredients into a bender or food processor. Blend until smooth. If the mixture feels too textured or lumpy add a couple of tablespoons of cold water and blend until smooth. Using a spatular remove the contents into a dish. It's that easy!

Optional, serve with hemp hearts salt and pepper sprinkled on top.

Serve with crackers and chopped up veggies and cheeses as a healthy snack, or as a protein source with favourite salad sandwich.
